Founded in 2007, the Mountaintop Wrestling Club was created to bring together and strengthen the wrestling community in the Greater Moncton area. At the time, opportunities for young athletes were largely centered within individual school programs, with limited connection between them. Mountaintop was established to unify those efforts, creating a single club where wrestlers of all ages and experience levels could train, compete, and develop within a supportive and structured environment.
The club was founded by Jeff Jones, who at that time had already spent two decades building wrestling programs from the ground up across elementary, middle school, and high school levels. Through that work, he helped lay the foundation for the sport’s growth in the region. As participation increased, so did the need for a more formal pathway - one that could carry athletes beyond the school system and into higher levels of competition. Mountaintop Wrestling Club became the natural evolution of that vision: a place where athletes could begin and continue progressing through every stage of their development, from their first introduction to the sport to provincial, national, and even international competition.
Since its founding, Mountaintop athletes have achieved success at every level of competition, and the club has played an important role in developing athletes, coaches, and officials within the sport. More importantly, Mountaintop Wrestling Club has remained grounded in its original purpose: creating opportunities, fostering personal growth, and helping people become better competitors, better teammates, and better citizens - one practice at a time.
